Open Question: I need to learn quickly how to write a grant/grant proposal?
I just recently became a board member of a local no-kill animal shelter in my city. This is a non-profit organization that is severely lacking in funding. It was my idea to start applying for grants to help with some of our financial issues, so naturally, they put me in charge of not only finding the grants, as well as writing/applying for them, neither of which I have any experience whatsoever. I know I can do it, I’m well educated and normally a pretty good writer, but I have no idea where to start to find grants, let alone write one good enough for our organization to be awarded one. So any ideas on where to find grants (it is a non-profit, no-kill cat rescue shelter in Toledo, Ohio), and also tips, techniques, or pointers on how to effectively write them I would love to hear them.
