Open Question: What if I change my mind about my career after getting a masters degree?
. I graduated last year with a BA in journalism, and because of the economy, haven’t been able to get a job in the field. So for the past year I worked as a substitute teaching assistant, and decided to go to grad school for an MSW, since the experience made me consider becoming a social worker, and I figured it would give me more options. Im starting school next month, and it took a lot of effort to get into the program, so not doing it isn’t an option. My question is, after I get my MSW do you think its still possible to go for journalism jobs, if the economy is improved enough by then? Or would I be limited to social work jobs because my grad degree is in social work? Please only serious answers, I know this is a stupid question, but im really anxious over it because the economy has made nothing in my life go according to plan.
Also, I DO think I would enjoy doing social work, its just that Im not sure how I feel about permanently giving up my dream of having a journalism career.
