Work At Home Mom Opportunity

When a recession hits our economy it affects everyone. If you’re selling a product you’ll be affected by your customers facing layoffs and possible pay cuts. This gives them less money to spend with you. If you offer a service-based business, you may find that customers now view your service as a luxury and in tightening their belts, clients are doing without luxuries.

One way that work at home moms can combat a recession is to multitask and take on another, non-competitive home business.

For example, if you currently run a daycare center, consider joining a direct sales company. Ask your daycare clients to distribute your catalogs at work. Offer them 10% commission on any sales they bring you. This is a win win for everyone involved.

If you currently write for a blogging site, consider selling articles on other topics to those who might need articles. I very often see requests from new site owners or new blog owners for articles associated with their niche market. Or consider writing a series of twelve articles and then putting them into a niche specific e-book and selling the e-book. I’ve seen some incredible websites that sell several e-books on a variety of topics. If you charge just $2 per e-book but sell two hundred of them, you’ve just made $400 and in a tough economy that can pay for quite a bit.

Depending on the type of work at home business you are running, you could take on a part time job during the hours your children are in school. I live in a college town and employers always need people 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. as those are common school hours for college students.

I’ve seen a few women take on additional projects. For example, a mom I know is a web designer. She has added creating inexpensive buttons to her list of services offered. Buttons take her a limited amount of time to create and if she sells ten buttons per week, this adds to her income without really taking away from her web design business.

If you are currently paying for your own health insurance, you might consider a job that provides health insurance for minimum hours worked. This would not only bring in additional income but would save your family money on the cost of the insurance you are paying for.

With a bit of thought, work at home moms can create a second income and beat a recession.
